Bio

Hi! My name is Carlysle Dante Marie Garland, though most people just call me Carlysle. I have been acting and performing since the fourth grade when the Missoula Children’s Theatre landed in my hometown of Lake St. Louis, MO. Shortly after high school, I achieved two life-long goals of becoming a Florida resident and attending a musical theatre school. My time in the incredible professional training program at Florida School of the Arts, helped me come full circle with the same aforementioned children’s theatre that sparked my initial interest in performing. Two and a half years with that beautiful company allowed me to act, sing, dance, direct, learn from, and assist hundreds of young minds in discovering their passions through their participation in the performing arts. Since working for MCT, I have performed in numerous theatrical productions and worked on many sets, including locations across the globe. I have earned one college degree and am currently working towards another at the University of Southern Indiana. I am continuing my theatre education at USI while increasing my technical skillset and expanding my actor’s toolbox. One of my favorite things about performing is sharing the characters’ stories with the members of the audience who are watching and listening intently. There is something so beautifully cohesive and connective when you get to tell someone else’s story and learn that someone in the audience felt a relationship with a character, or an event within the story. Aside from my joy of performing and celebrating the human condition, I really enjoy learning from the creative minds I get to surround myself with. I love collaborating, embracing differences, and trying new things. I apply this not only to my acting, but also to my personal life; I often find the two synonymous. I appreciate the opportunities I have encountered and am grateful to have already learned so much about life, myself, and the possibilities of where I want to be when I grow up. I am eager to learn more as I continue to grow within this industry and my profession.

Among acting, I also have a strong passion for pizza, my family and dearest friends, hot yoga, laser tag, and American Sign Language.

You will never know where you're headed; keep your mind positive and open and test your paths. They will lead you to the next best thing, if you let them.
